Publication Guidelines
and Requirements
The Journal of Science and Business Research
Thank you for considering submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Science and Business Research. Please review the following guidelines for submission and content. The Journal will review all submissions against the following criteria.
Originality, Scientific Integrity, and Ethical Conduct
• The Journal only publishes manuscripts certified by their authors to be original research or opinion. Submitted manuscripts must be accompanied by a signed “Certification of Originality” form, provided to the author by the publisher.
• Similarly, the Certification of Originality details that the author certifies that any research has been conducted within the highest standards of scientific integrity and ethical conduct.
• The Journal will not publish manuscripts detailing experiments involving humans or other mammals, reptiles, amphibians, or birds, when such experiments include deprivation of natural living conditions or exposure of such animals to conditions harmful or uncomfortable to them in either their natural or captive state.
Content
• The Journal will publish professional articles concerning general business, manufacturing, retailing, production or consumption of goods, consumer and/or producer behavior, and the like. The Journal will publish professional articles concerning scientific research designed to answer basic questions about the world in which we live, the interaction of various living organisms either with each other or with non-living things, or discussions of how any particular scientific practice or breakthrough might better serve humanity.
• The Journal will not publish any article deemed by the publishers to express a political opinion, or to support or denigrate any religion or spiritual belief. Examples include: A statement such as “The Whig party will eventually displace the Populist party because ......” would be inadmissible, as a statement of political opinion. A statement such as “The world’s governments must quickly act in a concerted manner to alleviate .....” would be admissible in that it does not differentiate between two or more political factions.
• All submissions are subject to peer review. Articles determined, upon peer review, to be lacking merit of content will be returned to the author, either with or without comment from the reviewer. Authors desiring to modify their text to meet peer review standards may do so and resubmit their work. In some cases, the publisher may deem articles to be worthy of publication without peer review.
Copyrights and Costs to the Author
• After acceptance of a work, an individual author will be assessed a one-time fee of $300.00 US funds, to cover editing and hosting expenses. Articles citing more than one author will be assessed an additional $200 per each additional author. All publication assessments must be paid and collected prior to actual publication. No other routine costs to authors apply. Transactions involving currency exchange from any currency into US Dollars will incur a $25 flat fee. Other special fees are outlined below.
• Copyrights of published articles will reside with the publisher. Authors of published articles, including co-authors, will be granted certain reprint permission. The copyright privileges will be contractually detailed in the document Publication Agreement with Authors.
Time Frames for Publication
• Articles submitted for publication to the Journal will be reviewed promptly. The publishers prefer to communicate with authors, at this stage, by e-mail. Authors will be notified upon receipt of a manuscript.
• The publisher will notify the author of the disposition of the manuscript, the expected length of peer review, if any, and any other details promptly.
• In general, authors should expect accepted works to be published within 3 months of submission. For instance, a manuscript received in mid-July would normally be published in the October issue.
• Articles deemed to be extremely time sensitive in content, or containing material of special importance to the discipline, may be expedited ahead of other articles, at the discretion of the publisher. Authors requesting expedited publication of specific articles may be assessed an expedited handling fee, in addition to other fees.
Form and Format
• Articles may be submitted in printed form, however any such submission must be accompanied by an electronic submission of the same material. CD-ROM is preferred.
• Articles may be submitted wholly in electronic form, by e-mail. Corel WordPerfect (.wpd) format is preferred, however Microsoft Word (.doc) format or Rich Text Format (.rtf) are acceptable. Other formats (.pdf etc.) will be rejected.
• Electronic submissions should consist of one contiguous file, with graphics included. Authors desiring special type-faces for publication should embed those fonts in the document.
• Particularly graphic-intense documents, or documents requiring extensive editing may incur special fees.
Author and Contact Information
• All submissions must include a valid e-mail address, even if the submission is by paper copy. Initial contact and correspondence will be by e-mail.
• Completion of various forms, such as the Publication Agreement with Authors will be by United States Postal Service mail, therefore authors must be prepared to furnish a valid postal address. When manuscripts have multiple authors, the Journal will deal exclusively with the person making the submission, whether or not that person is the principal author.
• The Journal will deal only directly with authors, and not with agents or representatives of authors. It is permissible for authors to deal with the Journal through a valid business entity owned or controlled by the author, however.
• Nom de plumes, or “Pen Names” may be used for publication, however legal documents must be completed in the author’s real name. Real names will not be released in such case.
• Author(s) biographical information will be published as furnished. The Certification of Originality form will include a certification by the author of the validity of such information.
